National Small Business Week
May 16 - 20

Dear Valued Member,

This week is National Small Business Week, and we want to take this opportunity to celebrate and thank our small business members for all of their hard work.

Businesses like yours are major contributors to the strength of the local and national economy. In fact, small businesses have a huge impact on the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce – 1,150, or about 80 percent, of Chamber members are small businesses with 10 or fewer employees.

Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has proclaimed National Small Business Week to recognize the contributions of small businesses to the economic well-being of America. Small businesses like yours create 60 to 80 percent of new jobs in the country, and more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business. More the point, San Luis Obispo County wouldn’t be the same without the many small businesses that start, grow and thrive here.

In 2011, National Small Business Week will honor the estimated 27.2 million of America’s small businesses that drive innovation, create 21st century jobs and increase U.S. competitiveness.

We thank local small businesses for their hard work, innovation, and the special impact they have on the local economy. Join the Chamber in celebrating local small businesses at the 2011 Mixer Showcase on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Alex Madonna Expo Center.

Thank you and keep up the good work!

Sincerely,

The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and staff
