Keep them coming back for more

Almost half of consumers (44 percent) have higher customer service expectations than they did five years ago, according to a recent global consumer survey. Good customer service is essential for any small business, but it’s become even more important as word of mouth remains the most critical source of information helping consumers decide where to do business. Come prepared for a Customer Service Roundtable to share your best customer service ideas and tips. Find out what others are doing right and walk away with the best practices and rules for good customer service before, during and after a sale.

Will the state budget crisis kill critical county services?

As the county’s former deputy administrator and its current top dog since 2009, Jim Grant has years of experience dealing with the state's dysfunction and managing a county budget that is critically linked to the state. His understanding of how to control the chaos of a fiscal fiasco has provided much-needed stability in a time of fear and uncertainty. Grant will share his outlook on the state budget and tell us how he thinks it will affect San Luis Obispo County.

General aviation as a business tool

Most business people know the value of scheduled aviation, but many don’t know how critical general aviation – private non-airline aviation – is to business. General aviation as a business tool is undervalued, but this type of aviation has an enormous impact locally. Find out about general aviation at the SLO County Regional Airport, as local architect and general aviation pilot Randy Dettmer shares why we can’t live without it and how it impacts the local economy through jobs and tourism.

Find out from the author about this very unique way of earning a living in San Luis Obispo.

New San Luis Obispo Mayor Jan Marx assumed council leadership at a challenging time for our city, which is in the midst of preparing a two-year budget while facing a $2.6 million per year shortfall.  Mayor Marx will share her ideas about how she thinks this local budget crisis should be handled and how it might impact local business.
