Legislative update from D.C.     

Economic development seems to be the buzzword on the Central Coast these days, and a big part of economic development is the effort to create more jobs. Congresswoman Lois Capps (D-Calif.) will join us to talk about legislative efforts that are being made to help small businesses create head-of-household jobs and grow the economy on the Central Coast.   
 
A taste of Savor

Sunset Magazine was the first to call San Luis Obispo “Pure California” and the publication still sees it as the perfect locale for Savor the Central Coast. Sunset Magazine Vice President and Editor-in-Chief Katie Tamony will tell us how the magazine of Western living plans to highlight San Luis Obispo in this year's event and will give us insight into what makes San Luis Obispo the ideal place for food and wine events.
 
Prado Road neighborhood unveiled

Long-awaited housing in the Margarita area neighborhood off of Prado Road is finally becoming a reality.  Come get a first glimpse of what is being planned by developer MD2 Communities CEO Scott Dinovitz, who will reveal the neighborhood’s new name, logo and home designs.    
 
New Cal Poly athletics’ game plan     

Don Oberhelman recently joined Cal Poly as its new athletic director. He has spent nearly his entire professional career in intercollegiate athletics administration and has big plans for the local university. As he heads into his first fall sports season at Cal Poly, Oberhelman will tell us his goals for Cal Poly's student athletes and share his vision for the future of Cal Poly athletics. 
 
Tourism trends look good for SLO

Tourism affects nearly every type of industry, especially in San Luis Obispo County. SLO Chamber Marketing Director Lindsey Miller recently returned from the 2011 California Travel conference, where she learned ways companies around the state are reinventing and boosting business in these challenging times. Find out what the latest trends are and how locals in all business types can put them to use.
