| Can the synagogue be saved?
SLO’s Congregation Beth David built the nation’s first LEED-certified synagogue in 2006, but now finds itself in default on its bank loan. But the congregation has an unconventional plan to save its temple from the auction block. Gregg Loberstein, co-president of the congregation’s board of directors, will help explain how their financial situation got to this point, how the temple hopes to raise the funds needed to pay off the $2.3 million owed, and what this means for the community as a whole.

Young leader with a big future
More than 4,000 Future Farmers of America (FFA) delegates and advisors met for the three-day event in Fresno earlier this month at their annual conference to elect new state officers, and San Luis Obispo resident Kenna Lewis made the cut. She was elected vice president of the 2011-2012 State FFA Officer Team. Lewis will tell us what this means for her and her future and how she hopes to impact the future of agriculture while representing San Luis Obispo at the state level. |
