For the third year in a row, the SLO County Bicycle Coalition has helped the city secure state grant money for the Railroad Bicycle Trail. This time, the city was awarded $890,000, the fourth highest of 19 bike project grants, to build the trail from the Amtrak Station to Marsh Street. The Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo is raising money to build the trail between Campus Way and Foothill Boulevard. Chamber leaders learned how important bike lanes can be in attracting jobs and investment when they visited Boulder, Colo., earlier this year.
The grant would fund the purple section. Red is existing trail. Green is under construction. Fundraising is under way for the blue portion. Click on a section to see details.
